Metaphysical Achromatic Gloom: The Haze Furniture Collection by Wonmin Park

I am completely mesmerized by the levitating creations of the young Korean artist Wonmin Park whose experimentation with resin is producing a dazzling spectacle of shimmering dreams.

According to Mr. Park the texture of resin, his preferred medium, gives him “the sensation of painting enveloped air”.  And indeed, through his creative processes he manages to deliver an elegant and effortless dream-like creations that are equally poetic and keenly modern.

Wonmin Park adds exquisite mixtures of primary color pigments to molds to produce muted, almost vapor -like coloration within the transparent slabs of resin. The resulting effect is an enchanting mixture of materiality and metaphysical ambiguity that makes each of  his creations a true example of livable art.

His Haze collection  inspired by Asian ink painting delivers a true achromatic gloom in opaque colors. It is as young Mr. Park has managed to captured the aesthetic essence of void and abandon.
