The first collections are in and they are pretty amazing. As the summer winds down Helston Heritage and Trina Turk, two perennial summer favorites, again turned up the heat with sexy silhouette to make us salivate for next spring while we are still enjoying this year's last days of summer. Sweet!!
Each designer, however, looked for inspiration at the different end of the spectrum. Helston Heritage dug deep in the ethereal beauty of Palm Springs and the California desert with an eye to the place's illustrious old-Hollywood past and glam history. From oversized sunhats, wafting maxi gowns, asymmetrical Latin inspired dresses to tailored jumpsuits, and elegant evening jackets the collection exudes elegance and yet, the lasting sense is a lay-back, made-for poolside feel perfect for lounging and evening cocktail hour. All against the spectacular backdrop of mid-century architecture and the velvet colors of what may be the Chocolate Mountains and yes we all want to be there.
Trina Turk, the quintessential SoCal label, on the other hand found inspiration in the Mediterranean summer hot spots. The vibrant colors and beach cover-ups bring back a Brigit Bardot vibe that is palpable and yet Turk keeps the playfulness for which she is known.
